Dr. Halpert is a gastroenterologist at Harvard University Health Services, Cambridge, MA and an adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Section of Gastroenterology at the Boston University School of Medicine in Boston, MA

Dr. Halpert received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Charles University School of Medicine in Prague, Czech Republic. After her internal medicine training in UK and US, she completed gastroenterology fellowships at St. Louis University. She received additional subspecialty training in functional gastrointestinal disorders at the Center for Functional Gastrointestinal & Motility Disorders at the University of North Carolina, under the mentorship of Dr. Douglas A. Drossman.

Dr. Halpert’s clinical practice consists of patients with a variety of gastrointestinal conditions with focus on functional gastrointestinal disorders. Her main research interests include the study of patients’ perspective, educational needs and optimized education, and improving physician-patient relationship and communication. Dr. Halpert has presented her research findings and shared her clinical expertise at various national gastroenterology meetings and published numerous manuscripts and book chapters. She has participated in the development of patient educational materials (brochures and videos) and in numerous patient-physician communication workshops. She has received several awards including American College of Gastroenterology Clinical Investigator Research Award.

Dr. Halpert serves as an ad hoc reviewer for a number of journals, e.g. The American Journal of Gastroenterology and Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology and is on the advisory board of several pharmaceutical companies. She is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Gastroenterology and the International Foundation for Functional GI Disorders.
