Douglas A. Drossman, M.D. is a long-time supporter of the International Foundation for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders (IFFGD). As a member of the IFFGD board of directors, as well as chair of the scientific advisory committee, Dr. Drossman has been an important contributor to IFFGD’s mission to inform, support, and assist people with functional gastrointestinal (GI) disorders. Dr. Drossman spent 40 years as a professor at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, where he founded and chaired the worldrenowned UNC Center for Functional GI and Motility Disorders. Dr. Drossman is also a founder and president of the Rome Foundation, the organization that sets the criteria for the diagnosis and study of functional GI disorders worldwide.
