Understanding and Managing the Patient with Chronic Severe Abdominal Pain with Douglas A. Drossman MD
In this lecture Dr. Drossman presents a case history of a patient with a longstanding history of chronic abdominal pain. He describes the clinician and pathophysiological features, addressed the psychosocial aspects and then provides a management strategy. Included here is discussion of post-infection IBS, chronic abdominal pain, opioid induced constipation and narcotic bowel syndrome. Treatment includes the use of central neuromodulators.
