Nausea is a term used to describe a subjective, unpleasant feeling of the need to vomit.  Nausea can be caused by infections, medications, motility problems, migraines, vestibular dysfunction, and many other conditions.  Chronic idiopathic nausea is a functional gastrointestinal disorder defined as bothersome nausea that occurs several times per week and is not usually associated with vomiting.  Individuals with chronic idiopathic nausea have normal upper endoscopy results and no metabolic conditions that could cause nausea.
